As a lover of local crafted brews, I am over the moon thrilled at the opportunity to participate in the Columbus Craft Beer Week that kicks off this weekend.

Yes, a whole week of celebrating local beer in dozens of places throughout Columbus, featuring hundreds of beers. So what does this all mean? Let me walk you through the key highlights to help you journey through the lay of the land that is Columbus Craft Beer Week.

Venues That Have Collaboration Beers -> GO.

The goal of collaboration beers is to get local breweries to put their hoppy heads together and have some fun with no (dare I say ABV?) boundaries. Each of these beers will be the result of fine local brewers coming together and doing what they love. This is a rare opportunity to discover 17 of Columbus’ finest breweries teaming up to share their passion — especially for Columbus Craft Beer Week.
What to Pay Attention to:
Collaboration Beer Growler Tap Takeover at The Ohio Taproom – ALL of the CCBW collaboration beers that will be released during the week will be available for samples and growler take home Sat., May 2 at Ohio Tap Room.

Collaboration Beer Spotlight: Gordon Biersch and Weasel Boy Brewing Company Fri., May 8 at Gordon Biersch.

Venues That Have Special/Limited Releases -> GO.

These “limited” releases are a celebration of creativity, showcasing the best offerings from each local brewery that has the unicorn of craft beers. Limited-release brews are ONLY available either at the brewery itself (and are typically only available seasonally) or in this case for Columbus Craft Beer Week.

What to Pay Attention to:
Jackie O’s Brewery Limited Releases on Sat., May 2 at Marshall’s Grandview.

Elevator Brewing, Great Lakes Brewing Co. and North High Brewing Special Releases Fri., May 8 at Bodega.

Events That Have Tap Takeover -> GO.

What better way, after all, for a curious craft beer drinker to compare and contrast a variety of styles all at once? For a given number of days or night(s) — venues throughout Columbus will have most or all of their taps taken over by a local brewer. Tap Takeover is a beautiful sight where you can experience all the variety of one brewery, outside of the brewery, and in a venue dedicated to serving amazing beer.

What to Pay Attention to:
The Brew Kettle Tap Takeover Tues., May 5 at Short North Pint House.

Cincinnati Tap Takeover with Skyline Chili Buffet Fri., May 8 at World of Beer – Easton
